In 2017, the City of Everett filed a first of its kind lawsuit against Purdue Pharma for suppling OxyContin to suspicious physicians and pharmacies and failing to prevent the illegal diversion of the drug to the black market, many other jurisdictions have joined the suit which is on going and should result in a financial payout once settled. 2. As a part of Washington’s suit against opioid distributors (McKesson Corp. Cardinal Health Inc., and Amerisource Bergan Drug Corp.) City of Everett received a settlement of just over $4.1M. These city will receive approximately $150,000 per year over 17 years. These funds are managed through North Sound ACH and allocations and distribution of funds are based on approved purposes. 3. In April of 2023, the City of Everett reached a $4.5M settlement agreement with several pharmaceutical corporations (CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Teva, and Allergan).
