CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on January 24, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting commenced at 10:01 a.m. Those in attendance were Brian Jones, Ann Kazen, Kay Barnes, Michael Duerr, Joe Neussendorfer, and Deana Dean. II. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present were Commission Chair Roland Behee, Commissioner Janice Greene, Commissioner Eileen Simmons, and Legal Counsel Amy Allison. III. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the minutes of the December 20, 2018 meeting. Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. IV. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for December 2018. Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Approval of Eligible Registers 1. Facilities Maintenance Worker (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Facilities Maintenance Worker (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 2. Office Assistant (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Office Assistant (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 3. Utility Laborer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Utility Laborer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 5. Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 6. Police Officer (BLEA) Certified (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Police Officer (BLEA) Certified (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Class Specifications and Call for Applicants (CFAs) 1. Approve the Call for Applicants for Transportation Center Security Officer (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Transportation Center Security Officer (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 2. Approve the Call for Applicants for Water Treatment Plant Operator II (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Water Treatment Plant Operator II (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 3. Approve the Call for Applicants for Assistant Fire Marshal (Promotional) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Assistant Fire Marshal (Promotional). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 4. Approve the Call for Applicants for Fire Inspector (Promotional) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Fire Inspector (Promotional). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 5. Approve the Call for Applicants for Office Technician (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Office Technician (Open/Competitive). Approve the Call for Applicants for Police Officer (Entry-Level) (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Police Officer (Entry-Level) (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 7. Approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) (Note: Experienced Police Officer is Open/Continuous and is being continued without change.) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 8. Approve the Call for Applicants for Police Officer (BLEA) Certified (Open/Continuous) (Note: Police Officer (BLEA) Certified is Open/Continuous and is being continued without change.) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Police Officer (BLEA) Certified (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. B. Approval of Rehire Eligible Registers 1. Police Specialist Chief Examiner Brian Jones asked the Commission to approve the proposed rehire eligible register for Police Specialist, which was necessitated by a reduction in force at the end of 2018. Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the rehire eligible register for Police Specialist. Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. VII. OTHER BUSINESS Chief Examiner Brian Jones asked the Commission to ratify the administrative extension of the closing date for Park Maintenance Technician from January 4, 2019 to January 13, 2019. Commissioner Simmons moved to ratify the extension of the closing date for Park Maintenance Technician from January 4, 2019 to January 13, 2019. Commissioner Greene seconded the motion.
