CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on February 28, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting commenced at 10:00 a.m. Those in attendance were Ann Kazen, Kay Barnes, Michael Duerr, Joe Neussendorfer, and Deana Dean. II. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present were Commission Chair Roland Behee, Commissioner Eileen Simmons, and Legal Counsel Jordan Stephens. Commissioner Janice Greene had an excused absence. III. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the minutes of the January 24, 2019 meeting. Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. IV. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for January 2019. Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Approval of Eligible Registers 1. Application Support Specialist (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Application Support Specialist (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 2. Assistant Planner (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Assistant Planner (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 3. Animal Care and Customer Service Assistant (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Animal Care and Customer Service Assistant (Open/Competitive). Plant/Pump Maintenance Mechanic (Promotional) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Plant/Pump Maintenance Mechanic (Promotional). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 6. Construction Inspector (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Construction Inspector (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 7. Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 8. Police Officer Entry-Level (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Police Officer Entry-Level (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 9. Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Class Specifications and Call for Applicants (CFAs) 1. Approve the Call for Applicants for Associate Planner (Promotional) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Associate Planner (Promotional). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 2. Approve the Call for Applicants for Police Property Room Specialist (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Police Property Room Specialist (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 4. Approve the Call for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) (Note: Experienced Police Officer is Open/Continuous and is being continued without change.) Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 5. Approve the Call for Bus Operator (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Bus Operator (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. VII. OTHER BUSINESS Interim Chief Examiner Michael Duerr informed the Commission of the retirement of Chief Examiner Brian Jones. He acknowledged and recognized Brian’s dedicated work for the Commission and staff. He noted that Brian performed an invaluable service to the City, wished him a joyous retirement, and thanked him for his service. VIII.
