CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on May 23, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting commenced at 10:00 a.m. Those in attendance were Michael Duerr, Kandy Bartlett, and Deana Dean. II. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present were Commission Chair Roland Behee, Commissioner Janice Greene, Commissioner Eileen Simmons, and Legal Counsel Jordan Stephens. III. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Greene moved to approve the minutes of the April 25, 2019 meeting. Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. IV. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for April 2019. Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Approval of Eligible Registers 1. Buyer (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Buyer (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 2. Desktop Support and Help Desk Technician (PC Technician) (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Desktop Support and Help Desk Technician (PC Technician) (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 3. Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 5. Firefighter / Paramedic (Promotional) Supplemental Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Firefighter / Paramedic (Promotional) Supplemental. Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 6. Police Officer (BLEA) (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Police Officer (BLEA) (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 7. Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Class Specifications and Call for Applicants (CFAs) 1. Approve the Call for Applicants for Public Works Supervisor Water/Utilities (Promotional) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Public Works Supervisor Water/Utilities (Promotional). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 2. Approve the Call for Applicants for Utilities Maintenance Technician II (Promotional) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Utilities Maintenance Technician II (Promotional). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 3. Approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 5. Approve the Call for Applicants for Utility Laborer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Utility Laborer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. 6. Approve the Call for Applicants for Police Officer (BLEA)(Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Police Officer (BLEA)(Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. VII. OTHER BUSINESS Chief Examiner Michael Duerr discussed the Call for Applicants for Equipment Mechanic (Open/Competitive) that was approved at the April 25, 2019 meeting. He noted that due to the low number of applicants, the closing date was extended to May 24, 2019. Commissioner Greene moved to extend the Call for Applicants for Equipment Mechanic from May 10, 2019 to May 24, 2019. Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion.
