CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on June 27, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting commenced at 10:00 a.m. Those in attendance were Kay Barnes, Michael Duerr, and Deana Dean. Note: others may have attended but they did not sign in. II. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present were Commission Chair Roland Behee, Commissioner Eileen Simmons, and Legal Counsel Jordan Stephens. Commissioner Janice Greene had an excused absence. III. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the minutes of the May 23, 2019 meeting. Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. IV. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for May 2019. Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Approval of Eligible Registers 1. Supervisor II – Motor Vehicle Department (Promotional) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Supervisor II – Motor Vehicle Department (Promotional). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 2. Assistant Inventory Control/Dispatch Technician (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Assistant Inventory Control/Dispatch Technician (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 3. Equipment Mechanic (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Equipment Mechanic (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 6. Police Officer Entry-Level (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Police Officer Entry-Level (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Class Specifications and Call for Applicants (CFAs) 1. Approve the Call for Applicants for Fire Inspector (Promotional) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Fire Inspector (Promotional). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved. 2. Approve the Call for Applicants for Veterinary Technician (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Veterinary Technician (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved 3. Approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) (Note: Experienced Police Officer is Open/Continuous and is being continued without change.) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved 4. Approve the Call for Applicants for Parking Enforcement Officer (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Parking Enforcement Officer (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved 5. Approve the Call for Applicants for Engineering Technician (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Engineering Technician (Open/Competitive). Approve the Revised Class Specification for Equipment Mechanic Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Revised Class Specification for Equipment Mechanic retaining the word “keeping” under Nature of Work. Commissioner Behee seconded the motion. The motion was approved 7. Approve the Call for Applicants for Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous) striking the word “random” under Important Notes.
