actively being sought. Clarification was made on the process with the commissioners having the
authority to amend and change the civil service rules and the city council having the authority to amend
the ordinance and municipal code. Legal Counsel Stephens stated there is an overlap between the
rules and the ordinance, so the ordinance would need to be amended first and then the rules. In
summary, feedback is being sought by the labor groups and directors with a mid-October deadline.
Then the matter will need to go before the City Council to amend the Ordinance. Then the matter will
be brought before the Civil Service Commission to amend the Civil Service Rules. The City anticipates
bringing modifications to the commission at the October meeting. Any comments the Commissioners
have should be sent to Michael Duerr.
