CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on October 30, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting commenced at 10:04 am. Those in attendance were Chelan Robbins, Michael Duerr, Kay Barnes, Chelsi Foote, and Joe Neussendorfer. II. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present were Commission Chair Roland Behee, Commissioner Eileen Simmons, Commissioner Janice Greene, and Legal Counsel Jordan Stephens. III. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Greene moved to approve the minutes of the September 19, 2019 meeting. Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. IV. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for September 2019. Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Approval of Eligible Registers 1. Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) Commission Chair Roland Behee motioned to amend the certification date to October 30, 2019. Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 2. Experienced Firefighter (Open/Continuous) Commission Chair Roland Behee motioned to amend the certification date to October 30, 2019. Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Experienced Firefighter (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 3. Bus Operator (Open/Continuous) Commission Chair Roland Behee motioned to amend the certification date to October 30, 2019. Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Bus Operator (Open/Continuous). Civil Service Commission Meeting October 30, 2019 Page 2 Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 4. Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous) Commission Chair Roland Behee motioned to amend the certification date to October 30, 2019. Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Eligible Register for Paratransit Operator (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 5. Police Officer Entry-Level (Open/Continuous) Commission Chair Roland Behee motioned to amend the certification date to October 30, 2019. Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Eligible Register for Police Officer Entry-Level (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. Class Specifications and Call for Applicants (CFAs) 1. Approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous) (Note: Experienced Police Officer is Open/Continuous and is being continued without change.) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Experienced Police Officer (Open/Continuous). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 2. Approve the Call for Applicants for Office Assistant (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Greene moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Office Assistant (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. Michael Duerr opened discussion to change filing dates of the process from 10/24/2019 - 11/07/2019 to 10/31/2019 - 11/14/2019 due to the rescheduling of today’s Civil Service Commission Meeting. Commission Chair Roland Behee motioned to amend the filing dates to 10/31/2019 - 11/14/19. Commissioner Greene moved to approve the amendment. Commissioner Simmons seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. 3. Approve the Call for Applicants for Transportation Maintenance Technician (Open/Competitive) Commissioner Simmons moved to approve the Call for Applicants for Transportation Maintenance Technician (Open/Competitive). Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. VII. OTHER BUSINESS A. Notice to Commission: a. Next Civil Service Commission Meeting to be held on November 21, 2019 due to the Thanksgiving holiday that falls on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Civil Service Commission Meeting October 30, 2019 Page 3 b. The Call for Applicants for Water Service Technician (Promotional) has been extended to November 18, 2019 as no applications were received through the original file closing date of October 3, 2019.
