CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on January 26, 2023 The meeting commenced at 9:32 a.m. Staff members in virtual attendance were Chief Examiner Michael Duerr, Danielle Marks, Chelan Robbins, and Bernice Delgado. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present via Teams were Commission Chair Ethel McNeal, Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin, and Legal Counsel Amy Allison and Christine Svihus. Commissioner Scott Bader was excused. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin nominated Commission Chair Ethel McNeal for Commission Chair. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal second the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal nominated Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin for Vice Chair. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal second the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2022 meeting. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT No public in attendance. No public comment submitted by correspondence. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for December 2022. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. REVIEW OF THE CHIEF EXAMINER APPROVAL OF CALLS FOR APPLICANTS Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the Chief Examiner Approvals of Calls for Applicants for January 2023. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. REVIEW OF THE CHIEF EXAMINER CERTIFICATIONS OF ELIGIBLE REGISTERS Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the Chief Examiner Certifications of Eligible Registers for January 2023. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. NEW BUSINESS New Classification Specifications Chief Examiner Michael Duerr provided more detailed information on the job descriptions, explaining that Legal Assistant is a new classification is the City Prosecutor’s office that recognizes that the nature of the work is distinct in supporting the legal department. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal read the list of new and/or revised classifications, to include:  Water Pollution Control Operator I  Water Treatment Plant Operator II  Water Pollution Control Operator II  Water Treatment Plant Operator III  Water Pollution Control Operator III  Legal Assistant  Water Treatment Plant Operator I Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve new classification specifications listed above. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion.
