CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting on February 23, 2023 The meeting commenced at 9:30 a.m. Staff members in virtual attendance were Danielle Marks, and Bernice Delgado. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present via Teams were Commission Chair Ethel McNeal, Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin, Commissioner Scott Bader, and Legal Counsel Amy Allison and Christine Svihus. SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the meeting minutes of the January 26, 2023. Commissioner Scott Bader seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. ELECTION OF COMMISSION CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR FOR 2023 This agenda item was a Scrivener’s error and was a carry-over from the January 2023 agenda. PUBLIC COMMENT No public in attendance. No public comment submitted by correspondence. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for February 2023. Commissioner Scott Bader seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. REVIEW OF THE CHIEF EXAMINER APPROVAL OF CALLS FOR APPLICANTS Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Chief Examiner Approvals of Calls for Applicants for February 2023. Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. REVIEW OF THE CHIEF EXAMINER CERTIFICATIONS OF ELIGIBLE REGISTERS Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin moved to approve the Chief Examiner Certifications of Eligible Registers for February 2023. Commissioner Scott Bader seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. NEW BUSINESS New Classification Specifications Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the new classification specification of Fire and EMS Support Specialist. Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin seconded the motion. Commissioners Bader and Metzger-Levin asked for clarification on the new class spec. Staff reported the request was to establish a class spec dedicated to providing department specific higher-level support work for Fire and EMS programs. The motion was approved unanimously.
