CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Minutes from Meeting April 27, 2023 The meeting commenced at 9:30 a.m. Staff members in virtual attendance were Michael Duerr and Bernice Delgado. ROLL CALL OF THE COMMISSION Present via Teams were Commission Chair Ethel McNeal, Commissioner Scott Bader, Legal Counsel Amy Allison, and Legal Counsel Christine Svihus. Commissioner Jo Metzger-Levin excused absence. Guest present was Tony Lee SUBMITTAL AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the meeting minutes of the March 23, 2023. Commissioner Chair Ethel McNeal second the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT No public in attendance. No public comment submitted by correspondence. REVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL ACTION REPORT Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Personnel Action Report for March 23, 2023. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. REVIEW OF THE CHIEF EXAMINER APPROVAL OF CALLS FOR APPLICANTS Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Chief Examiner Approvals of Calls for Applicants for April 2023. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. REVIEW OF THE CHIEF EXAMINER CERTIFICATIONS OF ELIGIBLE REGISTERS Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Chief Examiner Certifications of Eligible Registers for April 2023. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. NEW BUSINESS New Classification Specifications Commissioner Scott Bader and Chair Ethel McNeal asked for clarification on the new class specifications. Staff reported the new classifications were a bargained effort to recognize the higher-level skills for our inspector series and to provide a path for continued career development. i. Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Revised Class Specification for Building Inspector. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. ii. Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Revised Class Specification for Electrical Inspector. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. iii. Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the Revised Class Specification for Plumbing Mechanical Inspector. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. iv. Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the New Class Specification for Building Inspector II. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. v. Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the New Class Specification for Electrical Inspector II. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. vi. Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the New Class Specification for Plumbing Mechanical Inspector II. Commission Chair Ethel McNeal seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. OTHER BUSINESS Approval of Supplemental Register Civil Service Commission Meeting April 27, 2023 Page 2 Commissioner Scott Bader moved to approve the eligible register for the position of Firefighter/Driver.
