Staff Contact: Karen Stewart (kstewart@everettwa.gov) Item 2: Critical Areas Update Overview of the city’s critical areas ordinance and its applicability to areas subject to the Shoreline Management Act. The proposal is to have one set of critical area regulations applicable throughout the city, and to update the code to include latest guidance on protected species and buffers. The city is looking at streamlining the code and revising standards to be “content neutral” to be consistent with a 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision.
