Everett Salary Commission Meeting February 14, 2019 Mayor’s Conference Room The meeting commenced at 2 p.m. Those present: Commission Members: Chris Adams Tony Anthonissen Angie Sievers Kevin Sylvester Vickie Norris Abbi Gish Bobby Thompson City staff: Bob Bolerjack, Executive Director Christina Wiersma, City Attorney’s Office Elizabeth Smith, Administration Michael Duerr, Human Resources Guest: Ramsey Ramerman, City Attorney’s Office Open Public Meetings Act/Public Records Act Assistant City Attorney Ramsey Ramerman gave an overview of the state Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act and explained the responsibilities of the Salary Commissioners. He distributed copies of his PowerPoint presentation. Introductions of Newest Appointees, Announcements, and Nominate Chair Person The newest Salary Commissioners were introduced. Abbi Gish will fill position 7 and Bobby Thompson fills position 6. Chris Adams nominated Kevin Sylvester for Chairperson. Vickie Norris seconded. The motion carried. Review and Approval of Minutes from February 6, 2019 Meeting Vickie Norris asked to amend the minutes with the correct spelling of her name. Chris Adams moved to adopt the minutes with the corrections. Angie Sievers seconded and the motion carried. Review Timeline and Tentative Public Hearing Dates The Commissioners discussed the timeline and set the upcoming meeting schedule. Thursday, February 21, 2019, 4 p.m.: Public Hearing and Salary Commission meeting Monday, March 11, 2019, 4 p.m.: Salary Commission meeting Tuesday, March 19, 2019, 12 noon: Salary Commission meeting Wednesday, April 10, 2019, 4 p.m.: Salary Commission meeting Wednesday, April 17, 2019, 4:30 p.m.: Public Hearing and Salary Commission meeting Monday, April 22, 2019, 4p.m.: Tentative Salary Commission meeting (if necessary) All meetings will be in the Mayor’s Conference Room, 2930 Wetmore, Suite 10-A. Salary Information/Discussion Michael Deurr handed out the salary comparison information he was able to collect, but with the snow, many cities had been closed and he had not been able to get the information he needed. He explained that not all cities have the same systems of governments, so some cities’ salaries might not present appropriate comparables. He will have more information at the next meeting. Meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
