EVERMAN ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY BOARD Minutes Wednesday, July 19, 2023 4:00 PM 1. Meeting Called to Order: President Susan Mackey called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm. Present were James Robinson, Elizabeth Stonitsch, Craig Spencer, new ACO Christie Compton, Javier Enrique (asked to join meeting) and Judy Sellers. 2. Invocation: None 3. Pledge of Allegiance: None 4. Consent Agenda: None 5. Citizen’s Comments: None 6. Discussion Items: A. Introduce new ACO (qualifications, certifications, etc.) The new ACO is Christie Compton. B. Interlocal agreement with Forest Hill and any other city: The council passed an agreement, Resolution #2023-07-01, with the city of Forest Hill until September 30, 2023. Everman will be the animal control services for Forest Hill. We will hire 2 full-time positions and Forest Hill will be providing the funding for the positions. We also have Javier Enrique working in our animal control. We do not have any other agreements, at this time. C. Current condition of shelter (facility, animal count, etc.) We recently had a state inspection and the shelter passed with a few minor issues. At the time of the inspection, we had 39 dogs and 6 cats. We currently have 21 dogs and no cats. The SOP needs to be updated. It is a work in progress. D. Status of supplies: Right now, supplies are good. Need some vaccines for dogs and a new euthanizer gun. Comments were made if there is anything that is needed, please let us know. E. Status of plans for new shelter: We are waiting for the attorney to let us know if we have an easement. Rick Fuller wants to know before any commitments are made. We will need to discuss the funding later and construction of the building. F. Fee schedule (updated in last month’s city council actions): New fees were adopted at that time. G. Status of liaison with other shelters, rescue organizations: None 7. Consideration and Possible Action: None 8. Executive Session: None 9. The Presiding Officer of the Board or Commission is responsible to enforce the time limit. Citizens may address the Board or Commission either during the Citizen Comments portion of the meeting or during deliberation of a listed agenda item. Members of the Board or Commission are only permitted by Law to discuss items that are listed on the agenda. Citizens wishing to make comments should notify the City Secretary as soon as possible. City Hall is wheelchair accessible. Parking spaces for disabled citizens are available. Requests for sign interpretative services must be made 48 hours prior to the meeting.
