City of Excelsior Hennepin County, Minnesota Minutes Heritage Preservation Commission Special Meeting Monday, July 13, 2021 1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL Chair Macpherson called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Commissioners Present: Chair Macpherson, Bolles, Caron, Finch, Salita, Tyler Commissioners Absent: Brabec Also Present: Interim Planning Director Mullin, City Attorney Staunton 2. AGENDA APPROVAL Macpherson added brief citizen comment to the agenda. Macpherson also added communication from the Commissioners after the discussion item. Caron made a motion to approve the amended agenda, Bolles seconded the motion. Motion carried 6/0 3. CITIZEN REPORTS OR COMMENTS Peter Hartwich, 186 George Street, expressed his thanks to the HPC for what they do for Excelsior. 4. DISCUSSION ITEMS a) 106 Center Street (HPC No. 21-16) Prior to the discussion starting, Attorney Staunton informed the HPC that the City and the Church had executed a purchase agreement to buy the property at 106 Center Street. The HPC expressed their thanks to Amy Lucas, for the comprehensive and high quality designation study. Salita made a motion to direct staff to forward the designation study to SHPO for their comments. Caron seconded the motion. Motion carried 6/0. 6. COMMUNICATIONS and REPORTS Minutes Heritage Preservation Commission July 13, 2021 Page 2 of 2 a) Updates from the Commissioners Macpherson informed the Commissioners that he will be resigning, effective Friday [July 16, 2021] at 2pm. Bolles wondered if there was any additional work to be done on the Minnehaha SHPO packet. Mullin said the HPC can send comments to SHPO, and it will be on the next agenda with the Downtown district. Caron mentioned a property, approached him to question about getting on the National Register, and inquired if the HPC can help. Caron volunteered to be a point of contact between the property and HPC. Caron questioned what will happen to a subcommittee that Caron and Macpherson are serving on. Macpherson will forward the information he has to Caron. 7. ADJOURNMENT Salita moved, Finch seconded, to adjourn the meeting at 5:20 p.m. Motion carried 6/0.
