Unapproved Meeting Minutes Fairfield Town Council Work Session April 17, 2023 WORK MEETING DATE: Tuesday, April 17, 2022 LOCATION: Fairfield Town Office, 103 East Main Street, Fairfield, Utah TIME: 6:00 p.m. MINUTES BY: Stephanie Shelley Agenda Item #1 - Open the Town Council Work Session. Mayor Gurney called The Town Council Work Session Meeting to order at 5:57 p.m. Agenda Item #2 - Roll Call Town Council Members Present: Mayor Brad Gurney, RL Panek, Tyler Thomas, Hollie McKinnley (via Zoom), Richard Cameron Staff Present: Stephanie Shelley- Recorder Agenda Item # 3- Discussion on Town Park and Parking Lot Mayor Gurney informed the Council that State Park would do the parking lot. The Town would donate the property to the State. Councilman Thomas made a motion to donate less than an acre of the Town property to the State for a parking lot. Mayor Gurney - Yes Councilwoman McKinney - Yes Councilman Panek - Yes Councilman Thomas - Yes Councilman Cameron - Yes The Council discussed vacating the phantom road that runs through the Town’s property. They also discussed the type of fencing that would go around the town park. Councilman Thomas asked Kent Withers to get the evaluations for the town park property. Councilman Panek had Preferred Paving give a bid for the walking path around the park. 1 of 2 Unapproved Meeting Minutes Fairfield Town Council Work Session April 17, 2023 Agenda Item #4 - Discussion on the Future Development of Fairfield Town. The Council discussed the information that Councilman Thomas had found out regarding the Oak Development company. They are looking at putting a possible data center. They wanted to disconnect from Fairfield. Kent Withers asked them to talk to the Town before making any decisions. Councilman Thomas stated that the company is worth billions. They had developed eighteen percent of the Wasatch Front. They have had a high destiny and added trails and parks to those developments. He has heard that the developer is upfront about what they want. He hopes that the Town and the developer will work together. The Council discussed the pros and cons of what can happen with this development if it stays in Fairfield or disconnect to Eagle Mountain. Councilman Thomas wants the Council to consider the reality of what is coming to Fairfield. Do we work with developers or watch Fairfield dwindle in size? He feels that Kent Withers has saved Fairfield by asking them to talk with the Town. The Council will set up a meeting with the developer to hear what they have in mind. Agenda Item # 5 Adjourn The Town Council Work Session Meeting Councilwoman McKinney made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Panek seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
