CITIZENS PETITION
John Sauser and Jay Rogers, from Omni Associates, and Bill Leaper, from Life United Methodist Church, came in
to discuss with the Commissioners about the possibility of amending the code to allow the Technology Zoning
district to include churches.
Jay Rogers stated that Life United Methodist Church would like to move into the former Lockheed Martin building in the
High Tech Park located on Galliher Drive. Section 3.1.10.e of the City’s Zoning Code currently lists churches as an
excluded use in the Technology District. They would like to amend the zoning to permit a church under Section 3.1.10c
which would allow churches as a use permitted with conditions within the Technology District.
Bill Leaper stated that Life UMC currently has 500 members; 300 members are currently active. The church offers three
services at the current location. There is not enough parking for everyone and traffic is a mess. This structure would be
used for Sunday services, Sunday School for the children, and possibly as a day care during the week.

2. Staff Updates:
Sandra Scaffidi informed the Commissioners about applying for a grant through the Department of Highways that

20%.
