FAIRMONT PLANNING COMMISSION The regular meeting of the Fairmont Planning Commission was held on November 15, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Building located at 500 Quincy Street. President Straight called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and asked for a roll call of members. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT MEMBERS ABSENT Commissioner Yann Commissioner Colley Commissioner Carpenter Commissioner Greene Commissioner Majic Commissioner Parker Commissioner Richardson Commissioner Blickenstaff President Straight Commissioner Yann motioned to excuse Commissioner Carpenter from the meeting. Commissioner Greene seconded the motion. CITY STAFF City Planner – Sandra Scaffidi Senior Staff Assistant – Maria Cipolla City Manager, Robin Gomez PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Commissioner Yann led the Commissioners in the Pledge of Allegiance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM September 20, 2017 Commissioner Greene motioned to approve the minutes. Commissioner Parker seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0 PUBLIC HEARING FOR November 15, 2017 1. The regular Planning Commission meeting will be dedicated to a general discussion of the Comprehensive Plan Update. The Commissioners, City Planner, Sandra Scaffidi, and City Manager Robin Gomez had a lengthy discussion about the proposed updated Comprehensive Plan. Goals One, Two, and Three as well as the vision for Fairmont to build a better Fairmont were presented this evening. Sandra also let them know our consultant will be meeting with them to discuss funding of the goals laid out throughout the updated Comprehensive Plan. The Commissioners asked for a bigger emphasis on the Arts & Culture throughout the City. The Commissioners also wanted information on how to open a business in the City of Fairmont marketed and readily available to the public that includes a zoning map and location available for commercial use. Commissioner Yann requested the Vacant Building Registry be shared with all the Commissioners. The Commissioners asked for link to and a hardcopy of the draft copy of the Comprehensive Plan.
