Architectural Advisory Board George Mason High School Library, 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22043 February 6, 2019 The meeting was called to order 7:33 p.m. 1. Roll Call: Mr. Bitici, Mrs. Friedlander, Mr. Osburn, Mr. Way, and Mr. Wong were present. Mrs. Duggan was not present. Mr. Way welcomed the board’s new member, Mr. Alberto Bitici. The board looks forward to Mr. Bitici’s contribution and insights. 2. Petitions: There were no petitions. 3. Consent Calendar: There were no consent calendar items. 4. Old Business: There was no old business. 5. New Business: a. Recommendations and feedback requested on the Site Plan for a new Don Beyer Volvo Showroom, located at 1119 and 1121 W. Broad Street, RPC #52- 102-044 & #52-102-045 of the Falls Church Real Property Records, zoned M-1, Light Industry District. MUNIS#: 2018- 0532. Includes presentation from the Applicant. City staff briefed the project and the applicant presented the plans. The board then discussed the following items: The board asked about the roof, roof drainage, exterior lighting, traffic considerations, long-term planning for the adjacent property, the existing dealership, building materials, street-front appearance, and glazing. After discussion, the board made the following motion: Mrs. Friedlander made a motion that the board accept the plan with the recommendation the applicant consider adding additional transparent glazing in the front dealership area. Mr. Wong seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 6. Administrative Business: a. Mr. Hollern briefed the Board on upcoming agenda items and special meetings related to the new high school, special entitlement exception meetings, and the transit hub. 7. Minutes: a. Minutes from the January 2, 2019 AAB meeting were reviewed. Mrs. Friedlander made a motion they be accepted as submitted, seconded by Mr. Wong, and passed unanimously. 8.
