Architectural Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday July 14, 2021❖ 7:30PM
NOTICE: This meeting will be held pursuant to and in compliance with the Virginia Freedom of
Information Act, Section 2.2-3708.2 and state and local legislation adopted to allow for continued
government operation during the COVID-19 declared emergency. All participating members will be
present at this meeting through electronic means. All members of the public may view this electronic
meeting via the meeting link listed above and in the City’s website calendar.
Public comments may be submitted to jhollern@fallschurchva.gov until 7:30PM on July 14, 2021.
All comments will be provided to the Architectural Advisory Board members and comments
received by the deadline will be read during the meeting.

a. Feedback and recommendation requested on the Comprehensive Sign Package for
the Falls Plaza Shopping Center located at 1200 W Broad St, RPC: 51-219-010 of
the Falls Church Real Property Records, zoned B-3, General Business. Includes
presentation from Applicant.
• AAB discussed quantity, location of directional signs throughout the site.
• Scale and Visibility of the signs are acceptable
• Changes made to CSP since previous meeting on Site Plan/Signage are
appreciated
The Architectural Advisory Board has recommended approval of the Sign Package
1st by PO, 2nd by SF
b. Feedback and recommendation requested on the Broad and Washington Site Plan
Application located at 100 N Washington Street and 127-131 E Broad Street, and
Park Place. RPC #53-104-051, 53-104-036, 53-104-050, AND 53-104-015),
zoned Mixed Use
The City of Falls Church is committed to the letter and spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Architectural Advisory Board has recommended approval of the Site Plan Application,
with the following comments:
• Staff to work with the applicant to set clear expectations and agreements for the maintenance
of the site, specifically public spaces and streetscape features once it is completed.
• Consider more Pedestrian and cyclist safety features in front of the Park Place Garage
Entrance. The Board is concerned that there may not be enough visibility to those
approaching crosswalk from the perspective of a vehicle exiting the garage.
