Arts and Humanities Council of Falls Church Meeting January 18, 2017 Falls Church Arts Minutes Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Laura Hull, Ellen Gross, Marybeth Connelly, Letty Hardi, Sally Cole, Ed Henderson, Lindy Hockenberry, Barb Cram (cell phone) Guests: Alice Lieberman, Keith Thurston, Rosemary Ziskind, Kim Callahan, Celeste Heath, Veronica Prince The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Laura Hull at 9:36 am. Minutes: Meeting minutes were not approved as edits were requested by Barb Cram. A&H Council will need to vote on December minutes next month. Art & Humanities Council Appointments:  Celeste Heath and Veronica Prince recommended the Arts & Humanities Council add a Member at Large position to the Arts & Humanities Council.  Vote to add Member at Large- Sally Cole moved, Corey second, pass unanimously  Celeste Heath shared that additional organizations can also be added to the A&H Council by request to City Council Gov Ops Committee  Recommendation was made to review Arts & Humanities Council is an Advisory Council established by Ordinance approved by City Council in October 2009 at next meeting TLCCF Report:  There was not time to include report in meeting Arts & Cultural District Map:  Barb Cram recommended using the approved Small Area Plans: North Washington, S. Washington, W. Broad and Eden Center Re-development, etc. which highlight the commercially zoned and targeted redevelopment areas as the Arts and Cultural district with a park overlay and history overlay. This has been on the City Agenda as top priority as decided at the City Meeting at Thomas Jefferson School for City leaders more than two years ago. Pushing this is paramount to getting the City to act on the initiative that began in 2008. 1 Municipal Plaza:  Kim Callihan presented updates on the park based on community feedback  New plan shortens the park, only losing 2 parking spaces  No money in the budget for fountain or stage lighting but chalk wall and twinkle lights still included  The EDA city is expecting bids and will make adjustments when the response to the RFPs is compeleted. Vote to Submit Arts & Humanities Goals for City Council Retreat  Motion approved to send Arts & Humanities Strategic Plan to City Council, which included the request for finalization and approval Arts & Cultural District Map Planning and Development Update:  Letter for Broad & Washington project written by Barb Cram and Keith Thurston was reviewed for submission to City Council.  Edits were submitted and corrections will be made by Keith Thurston for Barb Cram to submit the letter regarding the E. Broad and N. Washington St. project.
