Minutes
Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Letty Hardi, Marybeth Connelly, Laura Hull, Ellen
Gross, Katharine Stewart, Mary Sellers, Ed Henderson, Elise Neil Bengtson
Guests: Keith Thurston (CATCH Foundation), Joe Muffler (Mill Creek)
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Laura Hull at 9:37 am.
Receipt of Public Comments
No comments were received
Minutes: September minutes were approved with edits
New Business:
Founders Row II
Guest Joe Muffler from Mill Creek presented an overview of the proposed mix-used
development project.
o Presentation focused on sustainability, retail along Broad St., and designated
co-working space
o The project will include updates to the streetscapes, traffic calming and
underground lines.
o 3,000 square foot plaza is designed a balance of greens and hardscape seating.
o Plan to incorporate art into the plaza design which the Arts and
Humanities Council can help be part of the conversation.
o Recommendation made to have artist work with the schools to help
identify the direction of the art.
o There is no grocery store proposed for Founders Row II
o Recommendation to highlight the history of Gravel Bank, Shoe Shop and
Barber Shop previously located in the area.
Strategic Plan
Plan to schedule time at future meeting to review/revamp strategic goals
If available, a copy of the old strategic plan should be shared prior to the next meeting
Old Business:
Digital Inventory/ Falls Church Art Walk
Recommend promoting the work in a press release to the Newspress, DCist, Tyson
Reporter, and the high school newspaper.

Consider creating a rack card or yard signs with QR Codes to help promote the
project

Creative Cauldron
o Now offering Live/In-person performances at 50% capacity
o Student showing of Having Our Say
o Upcoming Aesop’s Fables and Holiday Cabaret
Cherry Hill
o Holiday Teas and Holiday Shoppe are planned for this December
Falls Church Arts
o Successful Plein Air festival last weekend
Tinner Hill Historic Foundation
o State Historic Marker to be installed outside Henderson House
VPIS
o Fall Membership Meeting scheduled for November 7 with speakers on
environmental approaches
o Christmas Tree Festival is scheduled for Dec 3-5 at Four Provinces
Schools
o Hosting special Mickey Mouse Concert on Sunday 24 in new auditorium
o School spaces are available for community rental including auditorium
City Council
o Underspending in City budget is due to staff vacancies
o The Council is looking for community feedback on use of ARPA Funding
