MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER: Members Tim Stevens (Chair), Nisha Thirumurthy, Tom Cash,
Jon Ward, Aziz Shaik; City Staff: Kate Walker (Staff Liaiason and Environmental
Programs Coordinator), City Council Liaison: Dan Sze
Public Comments: No public comments were received.
Approval of Minutes: February 2, 2017 Minutes as drafted were approved.
Ongoing Business
- Energy Efficiency for City Hall and Library Renovations: Tom shared that
discussions regarding possible equipment loans for the City Hall renovation
project are ongoing. Detailed planning for the Library renovations have not
yet begun.
- GHG Emissions Reduction Goal Resolution: Tim and Kate shared that
both resolutions have been drafted and reviewed by City staff, and that the
next step is to schedule them for consideration by City Council.
- GHG inventory measurement – efforts to update the city government
sector are ongoing.
- Solarize campaign planning (4/18 – to 6/30) – Jon is coordinating the
user panel for the April 23 launch meeting. Tim has arranged for Colin Storm
(a local realtor) to speak at the launch meeting. Ryan van Patten from LEAP
will speak, as will Tom Weaver from Prospect Solar. Efforts to get an energy
efficiency speak continue. Volunteers for the Saturday farmer’s market
table are needed. Fairfax County is joining this campaign, and concerns were
raised as to how well LEAP will be able to respond to questions, etc.
