CALL TO ORDER: Members: Tim Stevens (Chair), Jon Ward, Michael Trauberman
Staff Liaison: Kate Walker
Guest Attendee: Ryan Mueller (GMHS student working on Eagle Scout merit badge
on Citizenship in the Community)
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from November 7, 2019 were approved.
EV-themed Memorial Day parade float: this is an initiative from Erika Myers.
Kate shared that applications are due by Friday, March 27.
BEEP presentation: we confirmed that cost and technical issues make this concept
impractical at present, but that we should continue to monitor service and pilot

State Legislation – Tim shared the current status of the Solar Freedom bill, which
moves to the full Senate Floor on Sunday. It may get incorporated into the Virginia

Renewable Portfolio Standard, Energy Efficiency goals, cost recovery for off shore
wind, and removal of impediments that affect distributed renewable energy (i.e.
Solar Freedom).
Solarize – dates and other key milestones have been issued by NVRC. Campaign
begins on 4/6, and ends on 6/5.
LED Streetlight Conversion – work proceeds in DPW now that this initiative is
officially part of the CIP process.
Flint Hill Sustainability Tour of Falls Church Facilities – Kate shared details of
this tour of City Sustainability Features, which was very successful.
Open Discussion – Jon Ward brought the committee up to date on his efforts to
