Environmental Sustainability Council/Energy Transition Subcommittee Meeting Minutes January 19, 2023❖7:30pm 300 Park Ave, Dogwood Room, Falls Church, Virginia 22046 1. Call to Order 2. Roll Call Attendees: ESC Members: Joseph Schiarizzi (Chair), Mike Trauberman (Vice-Chair), Jon Ward (ETS Chair), Sarah Bayldon, John Ferris, Andrew Crawford; Christopher Behr, Amy Crumpton (Chair HRTG); City Staff: Andrew Young (ESC Staff Liaison). 3. Public Comment Period. No public comments were submitted 4. Approval of December ESC Minutes • John Ferris moved to approve the minutes from December 15, 2023 with a single edit. Mike Trauberman second the motion. The minutes were approved 6-0. • 5. Annual Business Meeting • Election of Officers 1. Jon Ward nominated Joseph Schiarizzi to be ESC chair. Andrew Crawford second the motion. Joseph Schiarizzi was elected chair 5-0. 2. Joseph Schiarizzi appointed Jon Ward to be Vice-Chair. • Adopt Rules of Procedures 1. ESC reviewed the Rules of Procedures as attached to the Agenda for the meeting. 2. ESC members are also advised to review the Freedom of Information Act Guidance associated with holding public meetings, including rules about sending emails to more than 2 ESC members regarding ESC business. • Adopt 2023 Meeting Schedule 1. Joseph moved to adopt the 2023 meeting calendar. Jon Ward second the motion. ESC adopted the 2023 Meeting Schedule as presented in the agenda (7-0). 6. 2023 Work Plan Development ESC took the top 4 topics (Composting, Renewable Energy, Federal Initiatives, Bicycle Infrastructure) as requested by the survey and two additional topics (Green Building Policies and Recycling/Waste in City Buildings). ESC Members were asked to add ideas for each topic and then to place a yellow sticker on those that have their interest. Members were also asked to identify if they would like to be the lead for the topic. 7. Adjourn
