Environmental Sustainability Council (ESC) Education Task Group (ETG) Meeting Notes Operation EarthWatch Planning Meeting Mary Riley Styles Library, Lower Level Conference Room Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 6:30PM – 7:30PM Attendance:  Tina Ho, Operation EarthWatch (OpEW) Program Coordinator  Paula Conrad, OpEW Saint James School Coordinator  Connie Rydberg, OpEW Oak Street School Coordinator  Elizabeth Ballard, OpEW Mount Daniel School Coordinator  Sarah Bayldon, ESC Business: • Wednesday Meet-Ups o Compost Crew held workshop in November o Wendy Abstone held waste reduction workshop in December o In January, OpEW hosted a table at GIVE Day, Meridian High School ▪ Painted rocks and created yard signs with environmental messages o February meet-up will feature February sheet activities o Girl Scouts (Sherry Witt) will lead March workshop • 2023 – 24 OpEW Participation Numbers o MD - ? o SJ - 5 o OS - 8 o Homeschool - ? • Treasury Report and Sponsorship Status o Sent letters to 17 local businesses and 8 regular sponsors; goal to secure five new sponsors ▪ Jhoon Rhee Taekwondo school is a new sponsor ▪ Pledge from Vybe Energy to be a new sponsor ▪ Businesses solicited on next page 1 • Upcoming Events o International Night @ Meridian High School – March 16, 2024 ▪ Manage compost and recycling station o 42nd Annual Memorial Day Parade – May 27, 2024 ▪ Application deadline is Friday, March 15 • Plaque o Still no permanent home; library only willing to feature/host for one month o Connie to reach out to contact at Community Center • Future Planning and Transition o Need to identify new OpEW program coordinator for 2025 – 26 school year ▪ Current school volunteers unable to take leadership role • T-Shirt Designs o Custom Ink credit of $75 from last year 2  o Quality control concerns o Judging ▪ Check for missing designs ▪ Touch-up artwork by March 1 o Connie will manage t-shirt design and order process Meeting adjourned at 7:30PM Minutes submitted by Tina Ho Minutes approved by 3
