Urban Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes Wednesday, September 18, 2024 ❖ 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Meeting Location: 300 Park Ave, Dogwood and Virtual Attendees UFC members: Amy Crumpton (Chair), Tim Roche, Jennifer Anderson (by video) City Council Liaison: Erin Flynn CBC Student Liaison: Lydia Sturgill, Molly Moore City Staff: Charles Prince, City Arborist; Eli Swadener, Urban Forestry Crew (by video) 1) Call to Order: Meeting called to order at 7:33 p.m. by Amy Crumpton 2) Roll Call: Noted above. 3) Approval of the July 17, 2024 Minutes: No UFC quorum. Minutes deferred to Sept 16 agenda. 4) Public Comment: None 5) Staff Updates and Informational Items a) City Council Calendar - Erin Flynn reported that: - City has a $5 million surplus; spending discussion at CC work session, Oct 21 - FY26 budget discussion begins at Dec 2 meeting - Commercial tree canopy requirement is on list of CC priorities - No progress on search for new UFC Commissioner b) Staff Updates - Charles Prince reported that: - City Manager will discuss changes to the brick crosswalk standard on Oct 28 - City’s Legislative Committee meets Oct 9 and he will be involved in contributing - No update on Soil Profile Rebuilding or Code Change recommendations c) Community Update: - Falls Church Forward to distribute Leave the Leaves flyers/yard signs Sept 29 6) Business: None: UFC did not have a quorum.
