M I N U T E S AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMISSION September 8, 2015 The Airport Advisory Commission of the City of Farmington met on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at 4:00 PM, in the Executive Conference Room in the Municipal Building, 800 Municipal Drive, Farmington, New Mexico. Members Present: Chairman Richard Neely John Arrington Wayne Mangum Steve White Teresa Pacheco (alt) Members Absent: Tony Bennett Staff Present: Bob Campbell Russel Frost Dee Dee Moore Others Present: Debbie Meador – Great Lakes Jaade Plante – Atlantic Aviation Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman Neely, there being a quorum present; the following proceedings were duly had and taken. Approval of the September 8, 2015 Agenda Commissioner Arrington made a motion to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner White and passed unanimously by a vote of 4-0. Approval of the Minutes of the August 11, 2015 Regular Meeting of the AAC Commissioner White made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 11, 2015, regular meeting of the AAC with a correction on page 2 from Republican to Republic. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Pacheco and passed unanimously by a vote of 4-0. Operations Report Assistant City Manager Bob Campbell reported that enplanement numbers continue to be below the 2014 numbers, but that Great Lakes has added an additional flight to Denver and to Los Angeles. Mr. Campbell suggested that the Los Angeles route be advertised in the Durango Herald Newspaper. Secretary Dee Dee Moore shared that although the number of cancellations appears to have increased over the early part of the year, the percentage remains constant because of the increase in the number of flight per month. 1 Air Traffic operations were down a little bit but Atlantic’s fuel flowage increased during last month. Atlantic Aviation Manager Jaade Plante stated that there has been more XTO traffic this month. Mr. Campbell reminded the Commission that the amendment to lower the car rental agency’s minimum monthly guarantee will be going to the City Council Work Session on September 15. The patio is now open in the evenings at No Worries Sports Bar and Grill. Business from the Floor: Jaade Plante reminded everyone that the Hamburger Fridays are over for this year. Business from the Chairman: There was no business from the Chairman Business from the Commissioners: The Commission was informed that ex-chairman Terry Simcoe’s wife passed away in March 2015. Commissioner Pacheco mentioned that Bart Sisson dba Black Bart Aviation is now working at the airport. She was wondering why the fence near their hangar was being worked on but it appears the work was abandoned. Ms. Moore stated she would check with the Building Maintenance Department. Commission Arrington wanted to thank Mr. Campbell for his support during the purchase of the property located at 1899 W Navajo. Business from the Staff: Mr. Campbell also mentioned that the mounds of dirt by the car rental lots have been leveled and the large chucks of concrete piled separately and will be removed soon. He added that Public Works is currently working on obtaining an easement through the property adjacent to the north fence of the airport to allow fill dirt to be dumped in the ravines on the northeast part of the airfield.
