CITY OF FARMINGTON CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AGENDA April 16, 2024 – 9:00 a.m. _______________________________________________________________________ DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS 1. Roll Call and Convening the Meeting (Mayor) 2. Update and direction to staff regarding the Speed Radar Feedback pilot program. (Demetrius Henry) Action Requested of Council: Approve the Speed Radar Feedback program. Background/Rationale: Traffic Engineering has determined that speed radar signs are effective as drivers approach the sign; however, as each month passes, the effectiveness lessens. Additional speed studies were conducted at locations beyond each speed radar sign and showed that drivers returned to their initial speed. Traffic Engineering recommends that speed radar signs be candidates for streets that have failed to meet the Traffic Calming Policy criteria but meet the following:  a residential/local or collector street;  a minimum Average Daily Traffic of 500 vehicles;  85th Percentile Speed of 5mph or greater than the posted speed limit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COUNCIL BUSINESS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CITY MANAGER BUSINESS AGENDA ITEM SUPPORT MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION AND/OR PURCHASE AT THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, 800 MUNICIPAL DRIVE, FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO.
