the following procedures were duly had and taken.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
No Quorum. Approval of minutes tabled to July regular meeting.
COMPLETE STREETS PRESENTATION
John McNeil, Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency and Cynthia Lopez, Planner with the City of
Farmington gave a presentation on the Complete Streets project. The State requires the City to
form an agency to manage a Metropolitan Redevelopment Area which also gets designation
from the State. To get that designation requires that a certain area of the City be listed as
blighted. Once you get that designation you become eligible for certain tax benefits. The goal
of the MRA is for revitalization of that area and to assist to help bring it back to a vibrate place
like it used to be. This area is very large. It goes from on the west at American Plaza to Butler
Street. North from Navajo Street to the river itself. A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the
conceptual plan for Main Street.
HOMELESS STAND DOWN GRANT
Melissa Meechan stated that since we did not have a quorum, we will go ahead and hear
Beverly Charley presentation today and then make a motion at July’s regular meeting. Beverly
Charley addressed the Commission regarding the grant application for the 5th annual Stand
Down event to be held on October 14th from 8 am to 2:30 pm. It will be held once again at San
Juan College and they have 35 supporting agencies attending. Charles Kromer asked that we
get the final budget after the event.
