COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION Regular Meeting MAY 1, 2017 Civic Center Members Present: Melissa Meechan, Lynn Love, Alicia Middleton, Harelda Anderson and Wiley Bates (phone attendance) Members Absent: Cathryn Abeyta Staff Present: Julie Baird, Ass’t City Manager and Joanna Oliver, Secretary Guest Present: MP Schildmeyer and Steve Clark CALL TO ORDER Melissa Meechan called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm with a quorum of members present; the following procedures were duly had and taken. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Harelda Anderson made a motion to accept March 6, 2017 minutes as written; Lynn Love seconded the motion. Motion carried. Alicia Middleton made a motion to accept April 3, 2017 minutes as written; Lynn Love seconded the motion. Motion carried. OPEN RESOLUTION Open Meeting Resolution was discussed with change of venue from the Civic Center to City Hall for the upcoming FY18 which will take effect at the July 3, 2017 meeting. Harelda Anderson motioned to accept the resolution, Alicia Middleton seconded the motion. Motion carried. OUTREACH AND EDUCATION UPDATES The Commissioners had a roundtable discussion regarding their participation in activities for the last month. OLD COMMISSION BUSINESS NEW COMMISSION BUSINESS Steve Clark spoke to the Commission regarding the dialogue sessions that will take place at the College entitled Americans Together: Community Dialogue in a Divided World. He discussed the idea of working with the Commission regarding the Civility First Program.
