COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISION Meeting Notes JANUARY 7, 2019 City Hall Members Present: Lynn Love, Cheri Floyd, Diana Kinney and Sherrie Chenault Members Absent: Pat Gross and Larry Moore Staff Present: Julie Baird, Ass’t City Manager and Joanna Oliver, Secretary Guest Present: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Lynn Love called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm without a quorum present. However, the agenda items were discussed without action. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approval of December 18, 2018 minutes moved to February regular meeting. HUSTLE KINDESS PRESENTATION Hustle Kindness cancelled so Diana Kinney will get them reschedule for February. CIVILITY FIRST Chairman Lynn Love stated that he held a meeting with Karen McPheeters regarding the Civility First program. She does not see any benefit to having a Speaker Series on books but looking at a long term project. Her suggestion was a joint effort putting together a Place Making Venue. The CRC could present a message to the citizens that would be circulating through this venue. Lynn would like to invite her to the CRC meeting once she has talked to Julie Baird and the Mayor. NEW COMMISSION BUSINESS None OLD COMMISSION BUSINESS  The Civility First Ads will be put back on the Transit Buses.  Nancy from the Durango CRC would like to meet with us to discuss the Civility First Program which was just adopted by their City Council.  Julie Baird will reach out to Georgette Allen in regards to a small town hall gathering that was previous talked about last month.  We need to utilize our social media outlets more. There was a short discussion regarding Facebook and showing a trait every month and how to tie it in with other events happening around the City.  Lynn would like to order some more promotional giveaways – pen, pencils, chap sticks and or band aids were some of the suggestion. GENERAL ANNOUNCMENTS  Creating Cultural Harmony Conference will be held on February 22, 2019. ADJOURNMENT Discussion ended at 4:58 p.m.
