COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISION Meeting Minutes APRIL 1, 2019 City Hall Members Present: Lynn Love, Cheri Floyd, Larry Moore, Pat Gross and Sherrie Chenault Members Absent: Diana Kinney Staff Present: Julie Baird, Ass’t City Manager, Georgette Allen, Public Relations Officer and Joanna Oliver, Secretary Guest Present: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Lynn Love called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. with a quorum of members present the following procedures were duly had and taken. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Pat Gross made a motion to approve the March 4, 2019 minutes with the change of the date from February to March. Cheri Floyd seconded. Motion carried. COMMUNITY RELATIONS FORUM UPDATE Georgette Allen gave us an update on the first bi‐annual series of forums. It is scheduled for April 18th at 6:00 at the Civic Center with Scott Michlin to Emcee. San Juan Safe Communities Initiative will video the event. There will be up to 6 panelist from various organization participating including a CRC Commissioner. This event will cover the topic of policing and immigrant communities. The Panelists will be responding to written questions from audience members at the end of their discussions. Lynn will distribute flyers in Kirtland, Pat Gross will handle Aztec and Larry Moore for Bloomfield. CILVILITY FIRST CAMPAIGN There was a lengthy discussion regarding the Civility First Campaign as a whole including the street pole banners, utility bill inserts, and forums/events quarterly targeting diverse audiences. It was suggested that 2 Commissioners take each quarter and promotes 1 or 2 of the Civility traits. Julie suggested looking at the poles with the traits on one side and a sponsoring business and/or citizens on the other side. Pat Gross suggested looking at getting a new logo or just a phrase. Georgette Allen will look into this. It was also suggested that the concept of the Civility First Sundays not be a standalone but be incorporated into the Campaign Initiatives.
