COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISION Meeting Minutes SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 Executive Conference Room City Hall Members Present: Cheri Floyd, Dale Leedy (Phone), Hema Deegala, Deb Dumont, Ron Price, Audra Winters, Joseph Martinez and Brandon John Members Absent: Staff Present: Shana Reeves ‐ Assistant City Manager; Chief Steven Hebbe – FPD; and Joanna Oliver‐ Secretary Guests Present: CALL TO ORDER Chair Cheri Floyd called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m.; with a quorum of members present, the following procedures were duly had and taken. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Deb Dumont made motion to approve the July 6, 2023 minutes. Brandon John seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed. BROADENING HORIZONS Shana Reeves reviewed the Broadening Horizons Events being put on by San Juan College and the support from the CRC Commission. There was a lengthy discussion regarding various topics for this event and how the Commission could support it. Chair Floyd asked for a motion. Audra Winters made a motion to support Broadening Horizons with ideas and help to promote and attend. Joseph Martinez seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed. BUSINESS CARDS Shana Reeves went over getting business cards for all the Commissioners and various information that could be put on them. She asked the Commissioners to email her on the specifics for their individual cards if they wanted them. Chair Floyd asked for a motion. Hema Deegala made a motion to get business cards. Brandon John seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed. MARKETING/PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL ITEMS Shana Reeves did some research in getting items to promote the CRC and Civility First but needed ideas from the Commission. After a short discussion, it was table to next meeting. STAFF UPDATES ‐  Chief Hebbe gave an update on the National Night Out. It will be held Tuesday, October 3, 203 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Berg Park. Shana will get with Sgt. Gibbons or Denise about setting up a booth. She will also get water and candy for the table. Dale Leedy will bring the printed brochures and table covering. COMMISSION BUSINESS – Chair – Cheri Floyd asked the Commissions to remember to email her the business and/or individual for their traits so she can compile the list by September 25, 2023. We will bring this back to the October meeting.
