Hearing: Classification and Taxation ofproperty according to use, in accordance with the provisions ofChapter 797 ofthe Acts of 1979 as amended by Chapter 79 ofthe Acts of 1983. Per Order: Michael P. Kushmerek President, City Council By: Mary de Alderete, Clerk The Special Meeting ofthe City Council was held via the Zoom meeting platform, and called to order by President Michael Kushmerek at 6:35 PM. The Salute to the Flag was led by President Kushmerek. The Clerk called the roll and ten members were present. Councillor Green was absent. President Kushmerek read the Warrant for the Special Meeting. HEARING - CLASSIFICATION AND TAXATION OF PROPERTY Hearing opened. One person spoke during the public comment portion: Ms. Mary Jo Bohart, Director ofEconomic, thanked the Council for their vote ofthe prior year, and spoke in favor ofcontinuing the tax classification at 100% as she felt that it was helpful to in supporting local businesses. Assessors Chris Paquette and Harald Scheid were present to answer any questions posed by the Council. Discussion ensued regarding various related topics including the levy ceiling, home valuation, commercial growth and economic development. They referenced the FY2021 classification and taxation hearing booklet which is attached in its entirety at the end ofthese minutes. Hearing closed. A motion made and seconded to adopt a 0% shift to keep the rate of 100% classification passed unanimously by roll call vote. Note: 100% classification shift for FY2021 results in a single residential Commercial/Industrial/Personal tax rate of $19.03, subject to approval by the Department ofRevenue.
