Cruz November 14, 2022 WARRANT FOR A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL Dear Councillor: A Special Meeting of the City Council will be held on: Wednesday, November 30, 2022 Immediately following the Finance Committee meeting which is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM To be Held in the Legislative Building, 700 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420 The agenda will consist of the following: I. Hearing: Classification and Taxation of property according to use, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 797 of the Acts of 1979 as amended by Chapter 79 of the Acts of 1983. Persons who wish to participate remotely in the Public Forum portion of the meeting may request a remote attendance link by contacting the City Clerk at cityclerk@fitchburgma.gov. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the Legislative Building, 700 Main Street, and called to order by President Anthony Zarrella at 7:47 PM. The Salute to the Flag was led by Councillor Squailia. The City Clerk called the roll and 8 Councilors were present, Councilor Cragin, Green and Schultz were absent. President Zarrella read the Warrant for the Special Meeting. HEARING – CLASSIFICATION AND TAXATION OF PROPERTY Hearing opened at 7:50 PM Assessors Chris Paquette and Ryan Beauvais were present to answer any questions posed by the Council. Discussion ensued regarding various related topics including the levy ceiling, home valuation, commercial growth and economic development. A motion made and seconded to adopt a 0% shift to keep the rate of 100% classification passed by roll call vote 8/0. Note: 100% classification shift for FY2023 results in a single residential commercial/Industrial/Personal tax rate of $16.02, subject to approval by the Department of Revenue.
