October 13, 2021, Fitchburg Disability Commission Monthly Meeting In-Person Meeting@1:30pm. Commission Members: Bill Tolos, Chair Present Dan Cunningham Present Sharon Tardiff Present Doris Matte Absent Carolyn Quirk Present Deanna Tardiff Absent Amy LeBlanc & Marshal Haneisen attended the Fitchburg Disability Commission Meeting. Item 1: Reading of the Minutes Meeting commenced at 1:30pm. Minutes from the September meeting were voted on and accepted. Item 2: Announcements/Notices/Events: Members welcomed Dan Cunningham, newest member to the Disability Commission. RCAP Home Modification Program was discussed and all members were sent a link to the program. Item 3: Open Forum: Received complaint: Crosswalk at Main and Mechanic not working, there is no chirping sound, this issue needs to be addressed. Disability Commission Meetings will be held in the West Meeting Room at Fitchburg City Hall, 718 Main Street the second Wednesday of each month beginning September 8th, 2021 at 1:30pm. If you enter the front door of City Hall, the meeting room will be directly to your right. Parking is behind the legislative building off of Wood Place, or on street. Item 4: Update on Accessible Playground: The equipment has been delivered and they are working on installing it, construction of the playground has a completion date of December. The Disability Commission will plan on doing a site visit once completed. Would like to see a walking path from the parking lot to the playground. Item 5: Accessible Art Project: - Art Classes are being held at the Senior Center and have been very successful, class is limited to ten people due to COVID 19, classes are scheduled for 1st, 8th and the 29th of November, starting at 10:00am. Item 6: Main Street Renewal: Crossing from the parking lot to the library and both curb cuts will be included in Main Street Renewal. Item 7: Disability Budget: A Budget update was given by our Treasurer. Item 8: Discussion on Committee future plans: Committee members are tasked to present future plans for events at the next Disability Commission Meeting in November. Discussion about future events in the city. Item 9: Old Business: a. Membership: Ongoing. b. A number of curb cuts were discussed at open forum, there are several curb cuts located throughout the city that need attention, a list will be presented to the Department of Public Works. Some of the streets are listed below: Wallace and Elm – not in good condition, slant is too steep on Elm Street. Day Street gaps in sidewalk. Grove Street both sides of sidewalks need repairs. Main Street curb cut in front of Espresso pizza coming apart. Rollstone Road needs curb cut. Caldwell Street handicap spots need curb cut. Handicap Parking at Anwelt Complex will be reviewed for compliance. Library Parking – both curb cuts need repair. Status of list to be updated next meeting Item 10: Motion to adjourn, meeting at 2:45pm. The next meeting will be November 10th, 2021, at 1:30pm, Wednesday, in-person at City Hall. . 2
