School Council Meeting Notes January 30th, 2024
Fitchburg High School room 102
CALL TO ORDER: 2:33pm
In Attendance:
● Chairman: Dr. Johan Braga Ed.D
● Staff: Peter Perry, Gabriel Nutter, Carlos Garcia (arrived 2:37pm)
● Students: Sophia Robinson, Joshua Gauvin (arrived 3:00pm)
● Community Member: Nathan Glenny, Karen Peters
● Central Office: Jeremy Roche
Dr. Braga called the meeting to order with an introduction of our new community member Karen
Peters. Peters introduced herself to the committee who in-turn introduced themselves to her.
Dr. Braga made a motion that the committee install Ms. Peters as a member of the committee.
Mr. Nutter seconded the motion. The vote was carried unanimously.
Approval of the Minutes from 12-19-2023 Meeting:
● After a review of the minutes by the council, Ms. Peters made a motion for approval, Mr. Nutter
seconded and the council approved the minutes unanimously.
Agenda Items Moved to February due to logistics:

● Review of Attendance Policy (feedback from school committee meeting)
● Discussion around Grading (feedback from the faculty)
Meeting Activity:
● Dr. Braga introduced Mr. Roche who is visiting with the goal of presenting the budget template
and the FY25 operating budget.
● Mr. Roche presented a slide show presentation detailing the prospective budget. The high level
ideas presented is that the ESSER (Federal Relief funds) are gone in 2025 and we are in the
fourth year out of seven of the state’s Student Opportunity Act, which provided significantly less
money than in the previous three years. He entertained questions from the council.

● Mr. Perry made a motion to adjourn and Ms. Peters seconded the motion, unanimous vote
reached at 3:05pm
