FITCHBURG CITY CLERK Oct 03 2022 10:07 am Fitchburg Historical Commission Fitchburg Historical Commission Virtual Meeting Minutes Thursday, June 24, 2021 @ 3:00 P.M. Members present: Keith Chenot, Ellen DiGeronimo, Meagan Donoghue, Sam Blair, and Don Ostrowski Guest: Nicolas Pelletier 1. Minutes of the May 27, 2021, meeting were unanimously approved. 2. Review wording for historic site marker for the new housing development at the NW corner of Blossom and Crescent Streets. Guest Nicolas Pelletier, project develop. The Commission thanked Mr. Pelletier for agreeing to erect a marker at his new project noting some of the early history of the site. Details of the site’s history were generally discussed, and it was noted that we will work with FHS to research appropriate wording for the marker. 3. Status of Monument Park Railing Repairs: On going. No additional information at this time. 4. Proposed demolition of Simonds Saw and Steel, Intervale Rd – Reference MACRIS inventory FIT.525: Mr. Chenot indicated that he has spoken with the developer of the site for the new Amazon building and that he is hoping that after ongoing asbestos removal, a possible walkthrough of the facility might be arranged. 5. Proposed Demolition Delay ordinance was briefly discussed and tabled 6. Historic Districts information brochure/map information guide, signage, web posting: FSU faculty-let student project coordination ongoing for fall/spring 2021/2022 has been organized and will begin this fall semester with preparation of brochure graphics 7. Old Courthouse preservation: no new updates 8. Twin Cities Rail Trail signage: no new updates 9. FHC Website: ongoing with City Hall staff 10.Proposed Stonewall Preservation Ordinance: Don Ostrowski reviewed his draft for discussion. 11.Meeting adjourned at approximately 5:10pm 1 2
