In attendance were: Commissioner’s Ford-Rhodes, Roth, Pridgen, Asfa, Ashraf, Maguy-Stewart and
Nealon Absent: Commissioners Senovia, Darcangelo, Knight

Meeting called to order at 5:30pm
Welcoming and Introductions
Review of previous meeting minutes for 5/22/23 reviewed acceptance of minutes as written.
Public Comment Period-Opportunity for the public to speak during a Commission Meeting
Chairperson or designee will ask if anyone in the audience wishes to speak on any matter appearing on
the agenda. If you wish to address the commission, raise your hand, when recognized, you must stand
state your name and address and the reason for your speaking: None
New Business- Juneteenth Activities for June 17th -Commissioner Pridgen reported on event.
Held due to rain in the Senior Center and was event was well done. Many people came out in
support of the event despite the weather.
Old Business-
o Other items-future meeting topics, outreach & educational efforts etc.
o Commissioner Maguy-Stewart thanked the Commissioners for the Japanese Maple
delivered by Commissioner Roth after the recent loss of her significant other.
o Discussion re: the remaining stressors post pandemic with some the trauma is still being
experienced and being sensitive to those needs are essential.
o Summer meetings July and August traditionally have been hard to secure a quorum
during vacations season. If there are no pressing agenda items coming forth, we will
cancel.
o Looking for more candidates for the Commission that are committed to attending
monthly meetings and reflect the diversity of the residents of Fitchburg aligns our
efforts in equity and inclusion. Membership encouraged to promote future candidates
for the Commission in the future. Interested candidates, should submit a letter of
interest to the Mayor’s Office.
