Water/Wastewater Commission Meeting Minutes September 9th, 2020 J.A. Provencial Building 1200 Rindge Rd, Fitchburg MA 01420 A meeting for the City of Fitchburg Water/Wastewater Commission was held on Wednesday September 9th, 2020 via Zoom and FATV. The meeting commenced at 5:05 pm Members present: Rick Healey, Chairman Steven Bodurtha, Commission Member George Seiner, Commission Member Joshua Bedarian, Commission Member Nicolas Bosonetto, Commissioner of Public Works Others present: Jeff Murawski., Deputy Commissioner of Wastewater Jennifer Lambert, Head Clerk Water Division Nathan Glenny, FATV Absentees: John Deline, Deputy Commissioner of Water Michael Mclaughlin, Commission Member Item #1 Approval of meeting minutes: Motion to approve minutes from July 8th, 2020 meeting was granted by unanimous vote. Item #2 Public Forum: None Item #3 Wastewater Division:  Sewer Ordinance changes – Motion was raised to recommend the approval of changes Amending City Code Chapter 147, to incorporate the EPA mandated “Pretreatment Streamlining Rule” Ordinance language requirements for submission to City Council. Motion was approved by unanimous vote.  Sewer Rules & Regulations – Jeff highlighted the Commission on some of the changes (18 total) Sewer Rules & Regulations, an attachment was sent to Commission Members before virtual meeting. Highlighted topics include, interacting with constituents, builders and developers, private wastewater systems, sewer connection permits, inflow & infiltration among many others. Commission members will review final draft changes and vote to send to City Council for approval at next Commission Meeting.  SSU Project – Jeff informed the Commission the this project is fully COMPLETE  CSS Project – Procurement, along with the Wastewater Dept. has put out to bid our next sewer separation project. Bid was on August 17th and the City is preparing to award the contract to J. A. Polito & Sons, Inc. The duration of the project should be approx... a year and a half. We are hoping to start the construction phase sometime in October.  “On call Construction Contract” Work (Contractor: Blue Diamond Equipment): The River Bank Stabilization Project has been completed. The Elm Street Sewer Repair Project is under way now.  SSES, Phase 4 – Interceptor Sewer Evaluation – Provided Weston & Sampson with our review comments and feedback.  Combination Manhole Separation Project – We have a review document in which Weston and Sampson developed separations for approx... 150 combination manholes. We have been using this information to chip away at a number of separations.  Siphon Cleaning & Design & Bid, and Inspection Services Project – In progress. Ted Berry Company is working on this project by cleaning of our siphoned sewer and large trunk diameter sewers along with condition assessment. Work should be wrapping up sometime in October.  WWMP, Consent Decree Submission – This deliverable is being prepared by Weston & Sampson for submission to EPA & MassDEP by December 31, 2020. Item #4 Other Business:  The Water/Wastewater Commission will next meet at 5:00 pm. on October 14, 2020 at the J.A. Provencial Building, 1200 Rindge Rd. Fitchburg MA, 01420. Bid on Aug. 17th, 2020. City prepares to award the contract to J.A.
