Water/Wastewater Commission Meeting Minutes May 12th, 2021 J.A. Provencial Building 1200 Rindge Rd, Fitchburg MA 01420 A meeting for the City of Fitchburg Water/Wastewater Commission was held on Wednesday May 12th, 2021 via Zoom and FATV. The meeting commenced at 5:05 pm Members present: Rick Healey, Chairman Steven Bodurtha, Commission Member George Seiner, Commission Member Nicolas Bosonetto, Commissioner of Public Works Others present: Jeff Murawski., Deputy Commissioner of Wastewater John Deline., Deputy Commissioner of Water Jennifer Lambert, Head Clerk Water Division Nathan Glenny, FATV Absentees: Michael Mclaughlin, Commission Member Item #1 Approval of meeting minutes: Motion to approve minutes from April 14, 2021 meeting was granted by unanimous vote. Item #2 Public Forum: None Item #4 Water Division:  Water Division Budget FY22 – John spoke to the Commission about FY22’s Water Division budget. Minor changes were discussed with the Commission. Increase in line item Repair/Maintenance of Buildings and Equipment due to failing equipment. Also a change in position, the line item for Cadd/Op Tech has been zeroed out and replaced with Jr. Hydraulic  Engineer. Met with Mayor on May 11th to go over Water Divisions budget and everything looks ok to send to City Council for approval. Tonight we just need the Commission to recommend FY22 Water budget to the City Council for approval. Motion to approve FY22 water division budget and send to city council for approval granted by unanimous vote.  MassDEP ACO & Sanitary Survey Items – John discussed the list of remaining items that need to be taken care of regarding the sanitary survey that was conducted in September of 2019 along with the ACO that was issued in December of 2017. We are on track with all items.  PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) – 1st qtr. testing results – Discussion on PFAS results report was had. Raw water from both Regional and Falulah treatment plants were tested along with filtrated water from both plants. All associated quality control criteria reported within control limits. Item #3 Wastewater Division  FY22 Wastewater Division Budget – Jeff spoke to Commission about FY22’s Wastewater Division Budget. Increase in expenses for Architectural Engineering, mostly for capital improvements. Also met with the Mayor and Finance on May 11th, which both gave approval of our budget. Motion to approve FY22 wastewater division budget and send to city council for approval was granted by unanimous vote.  Projects Funding Authorization – Discussion was had regarding wastewaters upcoming infrastructure project “Main Street Area Combined Sewer Separation Project” or more formally the “CSS 010, 032, 045 and 083 Separation/Rehabilitation Project”. Motion was made to approve the loan order in the amount of ($4,000,000) and recommend to City Council for approval. Motion was granted by unanimous vote.  General updates – Current CSO project going very well. Contractor is very responsive. Highview Street project also going very well. Finished up restoration work. We also sold 99 rain barrels. Item #4 Other Business:  The Water/Wastewater Commission will next meet at 5:00 pm. on June 9, 2021 via Zoom & FATV, Fitchburg MA, 01420.
