FLORA TOURISM​ The Depot – Train Room​ June 18th, 2025 – 5:00 pm The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm by President Stephen Smith. Committee members Present: Stephen Smith, Jen Henson, Phil Wiley, Karen Anderson, Lacey Lewis, Chris Thompson and Anna Rounds. Absent: none Previous minutes were read and a motion to approve was made by Phil and seconded by Karen. Financial report was tabled at this time. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS Expenses: Approved a reimbursement to Karen Anderson for the Flora’s Diner gift card for the Wiles’ for $50, reimbursement to Stephen Smith for Julian’s gift card for Santa & Mrs. Claus for $50, and approve the payment to Discover Downstate IL Tourism for $225.00, motion made by Phil and seconded by Chris. Tourism Grant: Anna Rounds, on behalf of the Flora Chamber of Commerce, presented a Chamber Tourism Grant request for their event for the 4th of July Celebration. Anna went over the event details, and the committee made discussion on how much to grant the Chamber. With Anna, Chris and Stephen all in the Chamber, they abstained from voting. Phil made the motion to grant $2000, with a second from Karen. 4th of July: The dinner planned to raise funds for the fireworks is at the end of the month. The committee discussed how ticket sales were going. It was asked for Anna to create an event on Facebook and to check with WNOI to make sure that the dinner is listed on the community calendar and to see if they would do a news story on it to help advertise more. It was also discussed to have signs made to advertise the dinner. Ford Town: Anna went over a quick recap of last year's events to see what we wanted to keep or change. A decision was made to focus on Ford Town more after the 4th.
