Forty Fort Borough Council Meeting Monday February 5, 2024 The February 5, 2024, meeting for Forty Fort Borough Council was held at the Forty Fort Borough Building, 1271 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA with president, Thomas J. Murray III presiding. Call to order Gavel strike of President of Council Thomas Murray called tonight’s meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag Reverend Lukish lead the pray and Mayor Brian Thomas lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call President Thomas Murray ordered a roll call. Members in attendance were President Thomas Murray, Phil Mertz, Frank Mazza, Vice President Cara Devine, Kristy Dadurka, Sara Michaels, Borough Mayor Brian Thomas, Borough Secretary Michele Pascarella, Solicitor Greg Skibitsky, Code Enforcement Officers Thomas Craig, Lee Hampton DPW supervisor Rick Kamus and Police Chief Dan Hunsinger. Dave Sieminski was on the phone. There were 7 visitors in attendance. Public Comments John Kalinas from 96 Oak Street asked if there is a new ordinance where a car cannot be parked for more than 72 hours, as he received a ticket. Council explained this is a newer ordinance and if he does not drive his car regularly to park it in his driveway. He also asked if there will be a schedule for street cleaning. Council said there will be a schedule but not for some time. All the logistics are being worked on. Consent Agenda Matters listed on the consent agenda have been referred to members of the Borough Council for reading and study, are routine and will be enacted by one motion of the Council. If separate discussion is desired, the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda by Council action. The resolutions listed below are submitted by Borough Council for review and will be adopted by one motion. These items were presented to the council at the prior month’s work session for review. Motion to approve and/or accept the following consent agenda items: • 12/18/23 Council Special meeting minutes • 12/18/23 Council work session minutes • 1/2/24 Council Reorganization meeting minutes • 12/4/23 Council Meeting Minutes • December 2023 Code Office Report • December 2023 Forty Fort Police Chief Report • December 2023 Treasure’s Report • December 2023 Manager’s Time Sheets • December 2023 Kingston/Forty Fort Fire Chief Report • December 2023 FF Volunteer Fire Chief Report • December 2023 Tax Collector Report • 11/21/23 WVSA meeting minutes A motion was made by Cara Devine and seconded by Frank Mazza. All were in favor, motion passed. Council Action Items A motion was made by Phil Mertz to pay all bills as presented and seconded by Frank Mazza. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Cara Devine to accept resignation of Police Officer Tyler Norton and seconded by Kristy Dadurka. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Phil Mertz to pass Resolution 2 of 2024- Borough Fees Resolution and seconded by Frank Mazza. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Cara Devine to approve the transfer of $64,294.38 from the Capital Reserve to General Fund for building improvements from April 2023 to December 2023 and seconded by Phil Mertz. All were in favor. Motion passed. New Business Around the Table Mayor Brian Thomas stated that there will be a Bunny Hop Event in the park on Saturday March 23, 2024, from 1PM 3PM. The mayor also brought up about the new recycling fee. Stated if any residents have any issues, they can contact him or any of the council members. Phil Mertz commended Lee Hampton for a job well done. Executive Session- Police Personnel issues. Council went into Executive Session at 6:24 PM and re-convened at 7:16 PM. Motion by Cara Devine and seconded by Phil Mertz to adjourn at 7:16 PM. The next meeting will be a work session held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 6 PM.
