FORTY FORT BOROUGH SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26, 2024 The Forty Fort Borough council held a special council meeting on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Forty Fort Borough Bldg., 1271 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA, with council president, Thomas J. Murray, III, presiding. President Murray called the meeting to order at 5:15 PM with the following council members present: Phil Mertz, Cara Devine, Kristy Dadurka & Sara Michaels. Also present were Mayor Brian Thomas, Solicitor, Atty. Skibitsky & Borough Manager, Bonnie Arnone. Mayor Thomas led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. President Murray noted that this special meeting was being held solely for the purpose of allowing council to attend the meeting of the Civil Service Commission which would be held at 5:30 PM on this date. At this time, being 5:30 PM, council took seats in the audience of the council room to attend the Civil Service Meeting. At the close of the Civil Service meeting, Borough council re-convened at 7:30 PM. Ms. Devine stated that she would like to have a motion on the agenda for the July 1, 2024 meeting to pay for members of the Civil Service Commission to attend training on November 12, 2024 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The course is $150.00 per attendee. Based on the information obtained during the Civil Service Commission meeting, a motion will be made at the July 1, 2024 council meeting for the removal of Civil Service Commission members and the Civil Service Commission Clerk. Ms. Dadurka stated that she was particularly disappointed as she had her 14-year-old son with her this evening and he had to witness the actions that had taken place at the Civil Service Commission this evening. Resident Christine Kutz who is also a member of the Commission stated that she had never been involved in politics or any borough related activities before joining the Civil Service Commission recently and her only goal is for the betterment of the Borough. Resident, Mark Schwartz, asked if the Civil Service Commission could be completely disbanded and re-constructed. He was told that this was possible. With there being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made by Ms. Devine at 7:41 PM and seconded by Mr. Mertz. The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 6:00 PM.
