Over the past couple months, construction activities focused on several aspects of the building including establishing permanent power to the building by PG&E which is necessary to complete many of the building systems, testing and commissioning. This process began in recent weeks particularly for electrical and life safety systems, which is necessary to receive temporary occupancy. The existing parking lot was resurfaced and restriped. In late June and July the focus inside the building was the installation of carpet, polishing concrete floors and installing many of the finishes and trims throughout the building. More recently, residents will notice many plants and trees being delivered and installed as the landscaping and park site are beginning to take shape. By August, start up and tests of major equipment, system commissioning and essential regulatory inspections will be completed. Technology and security milestones will advance through telecom room turnover, IP programming, telecom testing, audio-visual integration, and access control and surveillance programming. Contractors will undergo final fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and generator testing, alongside the state elevator inspection and necessary owner training sessions. This will allow for Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), paving the way for City staff to move in for set-up and stocking of equipment and supplies. In addition, there will be period for building system training for staff once TCO has been issued. The project is expected to achieve substantial completion by the end of August with a possible grand opening date in late September which has not been announced. • Foster City Community Center Donor Wall Campaign Earlier in the summer, the City launched its www.fostercity.org/donorwall campaign to provide community members, families, businesses and organizations an opportunity to contribute to this amazing project and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come. Donations will support the Foster City Community Center Foundation which may be used to support the building’s equipment and furnishings, enhanced programming and maintenance needs in the future. Donations are currently being accepted but there is a limited supply of donor plaques and wall space available. The campaign has been well received by the public. A full update on the campaign will be provided by the Donor Wall Sub- Committee during the meeting tonight. • City of Foster City Civics Academy Recruitment for the next cohort of the Foster City Civics Academy ends Friday, July 31. Completed applications can be submitted to civicsacademy@fostercity.org .
