CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Ramón Gálvez-Arango called the Regular Meeting for the Advisory Committee for Persons
with Disabilities to order at 6:04pm. There was no quorum.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: John Borack, Kayla, Borack, Ramón Gálvez-Arango, Susanne Seiden, and Jan
Werts.
Others Present: Councilmember Kim Constantine, and City Liaison, Nora B.K. Webb.
Members Absent: Herman Ajamian, Terry Coakley, Lawrence Judson, Anna Nagmay, Philip Nisco,
Gary Osterbach, and Leonard Santoro.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was no quorum, approval of minutes will be moved to the May 7, 2020 Agenda.
ONGOING BUSINESS
A. Report from Subcommittee on Recreation Programs
Committee Member Jan Werts reported that there were 150 attendees. There was discussion about
sending thank you letters to the Golden West College students who volunteer at the dances, as well
as to volunteers who make gifts for prizes. Committee Member Jan Werts thanked all the committee
volunteers, and thanked Committee Member Len Santoro and his wife for the extra Valentine’s gifts
that were used for prized. The next dance is planned for Friday, April 3, 2020.
B. Disability Friendly Business Awards
No Report
C. Report from Subcommittee on honoring two students from the Special Education
program.
Committee Member John Borack reported that Los Amigos High School is interested in participating
in the program to recognize students with special needs. He is in communication with the staff for
special education at Los Amigos High School for the student recognition program for 2020.
D. Report on Committee Responsibilities
i. Assist City Departments in implementation of guidelines for accessible facilities

ii. Facilitate development of recreational programs useable by persons with disabilities
No questions or comments.
iii. Information concerning special recreation equipment
No questions or comments.
iv. Facilitation of development of barrier free buildings and facilities within the city
No questions or comments.
v. Work with various levels of education on the development and implementation of
programs to assure maximum integration for students with disabilities
No questions or comments.
vi. Development of community awareness of employment potentials of persons with
disabilities
No questions or comments.
NEW BUSINESS
No quorum, the election of officers will be moved to the May 7, 21020 agenda.

Committee Comments
Councilwoman Kim Constantine reported that she took the King’s to look around their home to identify
the challenges they face at Brookhurst and Talbert. She also mentioned that a copy of a letter from
the braille Institute was received.
Kayla Borack introduced herself and shared with the committee members that she is currently a
candidate in the CSULB Urban Dual Credential Program, where she is on track to receive her general
education and special education teaching credentials by Spring of 2021. In addition, she has been
working as an instructional aide for students with moderate to severe disabilities for the HBUHSD for
three years. Kayla was also recently nominated and will receive an award from the Regional Center
of Orange County because of her background and education in working with moderate to severe
persons with disabilities, and she also discussed her volunteer work with both the Special Olympics,
and at our dances.
Adjournment
With no further discussion and not being able to vote on items, Chair Ramón Gálvez-Arango
adjourned the meeting at 6:45pm.
