‭BOH MEETING MINUTES‬ ‭April 2, 2025‬ ‭In attendance: Bridget Sweet, Chair, Jeff Harris, Vice Chair, Kim Mu-Chow, Member; Cathleen Liberty,‬ ‭Director; Ginny McNeil, Health Agent; Alishia Sullivan; Public Health Nurse, Kerry MacKay, Regional‬ ‭Inspector,‬ ‭Guests: Steve Sherlock‬ ‭CALL TO ORDER: ► Chair Sweet called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.‬ ‭APPROVAL OF MINUTES: ►Febraury 5, 2025 and February 19, 2025.‬ ‭►MOTION to Approve the February 5, 2025 and February 19, 2025 meeting minutes Sweet,‬ ‭abstain, Harris Motioned, SECOND by MuChow with amendments to Healthy Brains Program‬ ‭section, last sentence to read, Dementia experience is available from Cornerstone in Milford. No‬ ‭discussion. ►ROLL CALL VOTE: Mu-Chow-YES; Harris-YES►VOTE: Yes-2, No-0.‬ ‭NEW BUSINESS‬ ‭Sunshine Lily update‬ ‭Director Liberty noted that the board voted that Sunshine Lily could not advertise or conduct massage‬ ‭therapy without a licensed massage therapist with the state. The facility has a licensed massage therapist‬ ‭on site and they are open and operating.‬ ‭Tobacco regulation amendment discussion‬ ‭Director Liberty discussed that she was told by the tobacco regulator that the board adopted the state‬ ‭fining structure for all state and local fines, but at the time they were amended it was thought that this was‬ ‭a viable option for the board. However, it has been determined that this policy is not available for local‬ ‭violations as there is a limit on local violations. Chair Sweet asked that this be a question to be confirmed‬ ‭by Cheryl Sbarra at the MAHB before we hold a hearing and amend the tobacco regulations.‬ ‭Health Fair discussion‬ ‭The Public Health Nurse updated the board that the health fair will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025‬ ‭from 3-5 at the Library. She noted what vendors would be attending.‬ ‭Healthy Brains Program Update‬ ‭Director Liberty noted that the Healthy Brain Program Initiative Expo will be held on Wednesday, June 9,‬ ‭2025 at the Senior Center from 3:30-5:30. There was much discussion with the public health nurse and‬ ‭the board regarding the Expo and the vendors who would be attending.‬ ‭Metacomet Shared Service Grant Inspector Update‬ ‭MacKay, the regional inspector, gave her monthly update.‬ ‭Metacomet Public Health Nurse Update‬ ‭The public health nurse gave her monthly update.There was much discussion about the Measle outbreak.‬ ‭CITIZENS COMMENTARY‬ ‭Stephen Sherlock asked if the UV lighting in the building would kill off the Measle virus. Director‬ ‭Liberty noted that she would ask the question to Facilities.‬ ‭Chair Sweet noted that she would like the health department to educate the community about summer‬ ‭food safety such as BBQ’s.‬ ‭Member Mu Chow announced that the Milford Hospital was having an Expo on May 14, 2025 from 10-2‬ ‭and there will be senior related vendors at the Expo.‬ ‭ADJOURNMENT‬ ‭►MOTION to adjourn at 5:44 by Harris.
