Franklin Cultural Council Meeting Minutes for Wednesday, November 15th 2023; 7:30-9:00PM Franklin Municipal Building, Town Hall Conference Room 205 & on ZOOM ATTENDEES ● Sarah Cronin, Swati Rao, Pushpa Jangareddi, Jean Wolf, John Ristaino, Brianna Cummings, Carol Fletcher VOTING ON MINUTES ● October meeting minutes were voted on ○ Sarah so moved; Carol seconded ○ Minutes were unanimously approved by council members. GRANT REVIEW PROCESS ● There were no updates from the previous fiscal year’s grants - the council is still waiting on some W-9 information from grantees, but will continue working on getting those. ● As a funding reminder, grants can be funded at either the partial or full amount. ○ This year, the FCC received 43 applications for grants, which were divided in three categories: Programs that serve children/families (7 grant applications); the general community public (21 grant applications); schools (9 grant applications); and seniors (8 grant applications) ○ The total amount requested by all grant applicants was $58,002. As a reminder, the FCC has $27,500 to allocate to grant recipients for FY24. ● The majority of the meeting was spent discussing grant applications, and beginning the decision making process as to which projects will receive FCC funding. When determining the allocation of funding, the FCC takes into account the overall impact of the event, how many grants were submitted by the same group/individual, what sector within the community will benefit from the funding, as well as how connected the project is to the town of Franklin and its residents. ● Decisions will be finalized by mid-December, and acceptance letters will be sent out no later than January 17th, 2024. INFORMAL DISCUSSION ● In the future, the FCC will discuss how best to utilize social media platforms for advertising and sharing more about what the council does.
