Meeting called to order at 3.01 p.m. In attendance: Chair Rodriguez, Vice Chair Roberson, Director Hoffman, and Secretary Braman. 2. Closed Session: Time In: 3:05 p.m. Upon a motion by Electoral Board Member Braman and seconded by Electoral Board member Roberson, and passed by a vote of the Electoral Board, the Electoral Board went into closed session pursuant to Section 2.2-3711 (A)(1) of the code of Virginia in consideration of security and personnel for the May 5 and June 9 Elections. Coming Out: 4:07 p.m. Certification: Upon a motion by Vice Chair Roberson and seconded by Chair Rodriguez seconded and passed by affirmative roll call vote in open session, it was certified that only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirement and only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the closed session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session of the Electoral Board. In response to the Covid 19 having a deteriorating effect on the City of Fredericksburg’s budget, Vice Chair Roberson motioned that the Board reduce the Chief, Assistant Chief and Officer of Election pay for the upcoming Elections. Chief would be reduced from $225 to $175; Assistant Chief from $175 to $150; and Officers of Elections from $150 to $125. Chair Rodriguez seconded and this passed unanimously. Secretary Braman made a motion to have Director Hoffman transmit the budget recommendations of cuts to the City Budget Office. Chair Rodriguez seconded and this passed unanimously. Vice Chair Roberson motioned to have the Board’s Telephone Policy to be changed from 3 calls per year to unlimited due to the Covid 19 emergency. Passed unanimously.
