FREDERICKSBURG RECREATION COMMISSION Minutes of January 17, 2013 The January meeting of the Fredericksburg Recreation Commission was held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Maury Commons. The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:04 p.m. Present: Commissioners: Marcus Tepaske, Tim Duffy, Calvin Glover, Ken Kroko and Susan Tyler. Absent George Foster, Malvina Kay, Matt Kelly and Gary Olsen. Also in attendance: Robert Antozzi and Patricia Sparks. I. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of December 13, 2012 were unanimously approved. II. Public Comment: None. III. Communications from the Director: The Commissioners reviewed the following reports: Financial Report – December 2012 Sports Report – December 2012-January 2013 Leisure Report – January-February 2013 Follow-Up Report - December 2012 Commission List IV. Noteworthy Dates: The Commissioners reviewed upcoming programs and trips. V. Old Business: A. Pathways – Faulconer Construction was awarded the bid for the Virginia Central Railway. Due to the lack of funding, the VCR trail will stop short of Route 1. Dr. Antozzi stated that an enhancement grant will be submitted to the State for Phase 3 and 4 of the trail. Dr. Antozzi reported that the Rappahannock Heritage Trail link is now on the front page of the Parks and Recreation web page. We are currently working on a different schematic for the VCR trail internet link. B. Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Partnership – No update at this time. C. Riverfront Park – Commissioner Kroko reported that City Council will be holding another work session to discuss the development of the Riverfront Park. . 1  New Business: A. Idlewild Park – Dr. Antozzi informed the Commissioners that he had been contacted by the Village of Idlewild Board in reference to obtaining some of the property in the phase two development area for a park. At this point, we have been engaging in discussions and looking at the site. A proposal will be offered at some point in the future. VII.
